The thorn in Periyar’s heart will finally be plucked out,’’ said a Tamil Nadu government order today permitting people belonging to all Hindu communities, with the required training and qualification, to become archakas (priests) in temples.
Periyar was an atheist and a Buddhist. He is well known for his antitheistic statement, "He who created god was a fool, he who spreads his name is a scoundrel, and he who worships him is a barbarian." - Wikipedia
'Thanthai Periayar' man had no faith in God (in all its variants). One wonders what his concern was as to who were the priestly class. As he rabidly propogated "Rationalism" why was Periyar concerned with permitting people belonging to all Hindu communities to become archakas.
Was Periayar,after all, only a labour leader ?
